Everyone, please read Slate today at http://www.slate.com/id/2104745/
This article, by William Saletan, is called "The Polls are Good for Kerry (really!)". The article is keeping me going after the abysmal primary elections in Missouri, where the homophobes prevailed by a wide margin on the referendum on a constitutional amendment enshrining marriage as between a man and woman only.

The Democratic primary in Missouri, where the state auditor beat an incumbent governor could actually be good news. She was widely considered the one most likely to beat the Republican in the general election. It just means that we have to continue working hard to register as many Dems as we can.

Last week, we had our meeting. Our fearless leader, Steve, has done some amazing work, and I'm confident that we'll be signing up a lot more people before the deadline. We'll keep you posted!

Weekend of 7/30-8/1 - August 01, 2004

One of my DV buddies, Jim, and I worked three different locations this Saturday. Two of them were pretty dead, so we went to the third, and that one had a bit more traffic, although nothing to write home about.

I'd consider the weekend a disappointment were we not the lead headline story, page 1-A of our local newspaper: www.ljworld.com. Smack in the middle of the front page is a picture of Jim, registering an 18 year-old first-time voter. The response has been fantastic!

We also had our big DV strategy meeting today. But I'll let Steve tell you about that!

Latest thoughts and actions 7/27 - July 27, 2004

Hi everyone--I hope that Clinton energized the rest of the faithful as much as he did me. God, he is good. But the one to watch is on tonite. I think Barack Obama may be our first African-American president!

But enough of that--emboldened by the article in the SF Chronicle about DV, I phoned some people at our local newspaper and asked them if they wanted a story. The City Editor bit, and will probably be calling Steve (Matt's dad, who herds us cats) for the story. I hope it generates more volunteers for us!!
